This is NOT an Italian recipe.

This is a great addition to our recipe book since last year, something I learnt to bake in Germany even if its origins are American. Now it’s part of my beloved recipe book and it’s probably going to be part of our family baking tradition. This is one of the advantages of being an expat.

Chocolate chips muffins:


190 gr. butter

200 gr. sugar

200 ml milk

3 medium eggs

400 gr. flour

1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla essence

100 gr chocolate chips


  • in a bowl mix butter and sugar
  • add one egg at the time trying to keep the mix smooth
  • add slowly warmed milk
  • add flour, baking powder, bicarbonate soda and vanilla essence
  • finally add 80 gr of chocolate chips
  • now the mix is ready to be poured in your muffin mould
  • sprinkle 20 gr of chocolate chips on top
  • put the tray in the oven 180°C for about 20 minutes
